Has Anyone ever been told to continually turn up their stim as time goes by? My rep has told me to...wondering if anyone else does this.

I assume its to keep getting better results. (?)

and....is this the right place to post this....there isnt really a "General Nerve Stim" board.

Somewhere there's a reason /Why things go like they do /Somewhere there's a reason /Why some things just fall through /We don't always see them /For what they really are /But I know there's a reason /Just can't see it from this far /Maybe I don't like it, /But I have no choice /I know that somewhere, /Someone hears my voice / I thought I knew it all /I thought I had it made /How could it end this way? /I thought I knew Somewhere there's a reason /Why things don't go my way /Somewhere there's a reason /That I cannot explain /Just like the change of season, /Just may not be my turn /But I know there's a reason, /The lesson's mine to learn

Hey Stranger! Have you been hiding from us Yes, I was told to go up a click or two every couple of days but right now I'm having a problem with major retention so I have it turned off more than it's on. The retention is a cycle I go into and the only thing that usually makes it better is a hydrodilation but my last one was sooooooooo bad on my uretha that I just don't wanta go there again, at least not yet

My rep also told me to keep turning mine up. As I have turned mine up it is harder for me to relax at night. If I turn it down then I have to resort to more medicene. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to handle this?

Hi! Yes I get cramps also. Mine is more in the area of my toes on my left foot. This is were the stimulation goes to.

How long have you interstim in and when did you notice the cramping? I've been having cramping in my legs and feet. I've had my interstim in since April 2001 and the cramping had started about 4 weeks ago.

Oh My!!! I've missed a lot....I've been gone for a little bit (Teri, you meant me...right?) Yeah, the house is suckin' the ever-living life outta me. With cleaning and desoderizing and revamping just so I can live there. My email has been disconnected temporarily while all new HW floors were put in....

OK so back to the Interstim question. I can't turn it up much either without causing pain/discomfort when I move, shift in my seat or bend over.I want to get better results and if turning it up will do it, then fine....but the stim is just too much sometimes and I ceratinly can't sleep with all jacked up like that

Deborah, yes I too have cramping in my left foot & toes. and Sometimes it feel like someone is snapping a rubber band in perfect succession in my left a$$ cheek. ugh.

Thanks for the replies...I'll give awhirl again...I jsut don't know if I can really deal with it much higher.

I have had my interstim two years this Tuesday. I have found that turning it up only makes me more uncomfortable and does not help the frequency etc. I am better at having it just at a level that I feel it only when I am sitting and not to the point it hurts.

As my uro and rep explained, they are learning that the 'window' in which the device will work is MUCH smalled than they had expected and hoped for so this actually makes sence. I know that with mine if I don't have it turned all the way down I go into complete retention. Sometimes to the point where I have to turn it off. I can actually feel it keeping my pelvic muscles in a spasm.

I think it will be years and years until they have all of the bug worked out of this device. I watched my father have his first quadrupal bypass surgery in 1986. Then, again 4 or 5 years ago another one and they gave him the aerota (sp) from a pig.... and it was completely a miracle what progress they had made in those years. Had they not made the progress my father would have died this time. Just more proof...........we can NEVER give up

I had mine put in Feb.15th and I have been having my toes go into painful cramps or charlie horses ever since. They have tried all four leads and still when they turn it up my toes go down. They have set me up to have it redone on Sept. 25th. They say it must be too close to the nerve. I can't turn it up high enought to even feel any stimulation becuase my toes hurt so much.
