The Interstim implant site only hurts if I hit it wrong (like when lying down). As long as I'm careful, it doesn't hurt. I probably could've been back to work earlier had I had a doctor's appointment to get the release that I needed. I was off work for a month, but that was partly because I had an extra, third surgery (which turned out to be unnecessary).

Hi Ryjoon, I'm glad to her that your second (surprise!) procedure went well and that you're sleeping! Sending you my best wishes, little bear

I had the first surgery (stage trial) on 10/22/2003. The trial took about a week. I was able to walk in my neighborhood but didn't go back to work. The permanent implant was done on 10/31. I returned to work on 11/11.

How are you feeling in terms of the site of the implant? I have a temp interstim now and I may ask for one permanently if my symptoms come back after they take this one out. My concern is that I've already missed a month of work and I can't miss another month for recovery from a perm implant. I'm asking others about their recovery time so I'll know what to expect if I decide to go that route.

I'm so happy that the implant is working for you along with your meds. I know it was such a relief for me to be able to pee on my own without a cath after I got my temp stim. Keep resting while you recover and let us know how you do as you get closer to going back to work.

    Rachel

Congrats on the sleep, I know that my first full night of sleep was a blessing too.

    Interstim implanted 2/24/04

With a whole two hours' notice (!), I had the Interstim implanted on Tues. The stimulation is much more consistent than the external box. Nothing too exciting to report otherwise. Back on Detrol, Flexeril & a low dose of Xanax, so am sleeping better because of those (not because of Interstim). Uro sounds committed to working with me to improve sleep outside of Interstim, so hopefully that will help. May be back to work about 3/3/04.
Working...
