Further thoughts on sucky nerve block

Oh man you guys...it is 4 pm, pst. second day after the nerve block. I hurt like hell. I feel like someone hit me in the back with a baseball bat. As the local anasthetia in my nerves has been wearing off, my belly area seems to hurt 15 times as bad. They called fromthe office today, to see, how the pain medication was wearing off...so the doc had an idea of what to do for a more permanent solution. It hurts so bad.....I'll talk to you all later...long distance phone call...

I am so sorry you are in so much pain.. I wish I had a suggestion to help you. I think I would consider contacting the fda. This dosen't seem right to me.

I am feeling a bit better today although the pain doctor called today (just a minute ago)to see how I was doing and told me to stay off my feet so I had to cancel my PT appt. I'm so tired, I think I'll go back to bed and sleep in since Idon't have to go anywhere now. Yay.

My doc called again today (well, his assistant) and they mainly want to know the pain pattern, how long the stuff lasted and where your pain started first again.

Um...so they told me the next thing they would do is consider what to do with the nerves..so DECNIE.....I suppose that is what they are doing for you too...burn the plexus off, put in an interstim...whatever...I guess we shall talk. I do know I hurt like hell, even today. I'm in a "flare", my right side of my pelvis really is stinging and throbbing, left side just aches. My back is less painful than yesterday and tomorrow I'm seeing my chiropractor. I want my pelvic area fixed. (I do that every couple weeks, he loosens up the joints, massages all the owies in the front, basically makes me feel better.)

good luck...I hope you feel better soon. I really understand and can feel your pain. eek

I just wanted to jump in here and say that I have the Interstim, and it is NOT for pain. Please do you research on this, I don't know why pain clinics offer this as a solution to pain unless you are having pain from urgency and/or bladder spasms. I love my Interstim but it has helped minimally with pain, but it did put me in remission for awhile.

Thanks..appreciate that heads up.... My frequency and urgency is annoying but not as much as the pain so I'd much rather get the pain dealt with.

My pain dr. has discussed other neurostimulation besides interstim with me as possible pain treatment options. Basically as both he and my urologist put it the procedures approved for pain are usually only done by neurologists and pain treatment specialists because it's placing the leads on or near the spinal cord versus just near the nerves as with the interstim. Some people such as me do recieve pain relief with their interstim as a bonus but as Jess said it is not yet approved or marketed for pain. I have spoken with many other patients of my dr. who have also had a tremendous pain reduction after their interstim so I know it can happen. I only have the test stim and do not know what the long term pain relief would be for me but so far so good after 2 weeks.

If my pain returns or I get worse I may consider one of the more invasive neurostims but for now I'm glad to have some relief. There are a few different companies that make these stimulators medtronic makes the interstim as well as others for pain, and another company makes units called ANS can't remember the manufacturer.
