  • Trial going well

    Hello friends,

Tomorrow will be one week with the trial stim.
I am still having much relief from the frequency and urgency. I still have some mild pain in my back and hips but that is the spondylitis and fibromyalgia playing a part into that. I got a tube of cream called LFX from CVS and it burns bad to rub on but it is helping a little with urethra and vaginal burning but I have ordered MSM gel ... thanks for the info on here for that...especially Roxie

I talked to my doctor's PA this afternoon. The plan is to set up appointments tomorrow. I will have to come in soon to remove the trial wires because of the risk of infection and also I have the go ahead to set up pre -op for the permanent interstim implant surgery! :woohoo:

I also plan to call my internist tomorrow to talk with her about my medications. She has been great to work with me thru all of the other health issues and such. I have faith that it is all coming together! I really believe it is going to help me so much.

I shared with TopCop but want to Praise God to everyone... I got a contract to teach again next year! With all of my problems and having to take medical leave now... I was anxious but God is great and has relieved that worry for me! I know it is hard when we are hurting and tired and tired of hurting... but always try to count your blessings I promise you will feel better...if just in your mind and heart!

I have a really big "going off Lortab" headache ... will write more later.
    God Bless!

I am so happy to hear this.. I have a dumb question, did you not have the stage trial? where they surgicaly implanted the stim wires? I had the stage done, and the trial was 14 days, I carried the dreaded grey box, on day 14 I had the implant and returned the box. was just wondering why yours is different. but happy for you.

Galatians 6:2 - Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Hebrews 13:2 - Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Proverbs 4:23 - Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life

I also got to keep my trial box for two weeks until my permanent surgery, too. I guess there are different ways of doing this -- but I'm sorry you're going to have to lose your generator until the permanent I hope your symptoms don't come back in between... but at least you know there is relief in sight!!!!

*Kept trying a million different treatments for all these things until I found what works, and I am doing okay these days with the help of a cocktail of medications and the InterStim, which was first placed in 2007. [I have had 2 revisions - one in 2010 when my battery died and had to be replaced, and one complete replacement (lead and generator) in 2012 after a fall on my stairs caused my lead to move.]
*Current meds include Atarax (50mg at night), Lyrica (150mg twice a day), Xanax (0.5mg at night and as needed), Zanaflex (4mg at night), hydrocodone (10/325, every 6 hours as needed), Advair, Nasonex, Singulair (10mg at night), oral contraceptives, home instills containing Elmiron and Marcaine (as often as I need to do them).

I wondered the same thing... so I ask the PA that I talked to. He said that I was at risk for infection with the exposed trial wires and therefore they had to be removed. I told him that I knew of others having the trial wires and keeping them longer... in fact.. until the permanent surgery. He said that was not the way they did it. hmmmmmm.
I asked if they got a good connection why would they want to risk losing it? he chuckled and said not to worry that they could get the same good connection on permanent wires.
My main concern is that I will have this all yanked out today and my surgery for the perm stim is not until the 21st tentatively they said... so I guess it is back to life "stimless" for that time.
              I wish I knew more myself ????
I am just trying to stay positive and keep faith!
