  • Permanet In and Working Wonderfully...

I had the permanet implant put in on the 28th of last month. I've been so busy moving that I didn't have a chance to tell everyone how it went. This time around I still had a light sedation with local injections. It only took about 20 minutes in the OR. The guy from Medtronic was there again and he explained everything about the system. He stressed that the machine should be OFF when we go thru security at the Courts and the Airport. Also, we're to tell them that we have a medical implant (must show card that Medtronic will be sending) and they might let us thru to be just patted down instead of going thru the machines.

I'm still quite sore and feel like I've been kicked by a sledge hammer. I'm getting settled into my new apartment with my Service Dog Shadow. I only have one room to clean out at my old place and decided that I'm taking two days off to recouperate from last Wednesday's surgery.

I love the fact that I only go about 10 times a day VS 30 plus AND not having an accident is GREAT!!!

Glad everyone else is doing great with their new devices...:woohoo:

I had my permanent implant put in on February 16th and I am also doing really well with it. We've had quite a few InterStim success stories lately and I'm glad you are one of them

Nice not to have to pee every 10 minutes, huh???

*Kept trying a million different treatments for all these things until I found what works, and I am doing okay these days with the help of a cocktail of medications and the InterStim, which was first placed in 2007. [I have had 2 revisions - one in 2010 when my battery died and had to be replaced, and one complete replacement (lead and generator) in 2012 after a fall on my stairs caused my lead to move.]
*Current meds include Atarax (50mg at night), Lyrica (150mg twice a day), Xanax (0.5mg at night and as needed), Zanaflex (4mg at night), hydrocodone (10/325, every 6 hours as needed), Advair, Nasonex, Singulair (10mg at night), oral contraceptives, home instills containing Elmiron and Marcaine (as often as I need to do them).
