It would be hard for me to say for sure about the incision above your butt crack, doctors tend to have slightly different techniques. In that "pocket" right now there is the wire that they will connect the permanent device to. All they do now is pull the external wires, open up that pocket agian, and "plug" they device into the wire that is already in the pocket.

I still don't get why you have staples for a pocket for the permanent implant when you don't have that in yet??

I'm having my trial tomorrow and there is a lot of different info online of how it's done. Is there always one incision by the top of the butt crack? My dr. asked if I was right handed and when I said yes she showed me where she'd put the permanent stim(on the right) Afterwards I got to thinking that I have a TON of pain on the right side of my SI and I don't think I want it there. Do you have to point or touch the control to the Stim to turn it off?

    Thanks for any answers.

Hello! I have a incision at the top of my butt crack. I covered it for the picture. The wires are tunneled under my skin. My uro put the exit place up a little higher to avoid my tatoo I think. The staples are where the permanent implant will be. They choose the location based on where they think it will "look" the best and where they think it will move little and properly secure itself.

    cool

thanks for the picture!! how do they decide where the "pocket" will be? b/c on the website it shows it at the top of one butt cheek.

also, i thought the leads went closer to the sacral nerve, like in the butt crack. but this just looks different than what i expected. can you explain what everything is?

thanks! and i'm so happy that you are finding a treatment that works for you.

That is the "pocket" where the permanet device will go. When they implant the second stage they will simply elongate that incision, and make the pocket large enough to accomidate the device.
