Anyone know how long it takes to get pre approval for interstim surgery. My trial was successful and now I am back in misery. Can't wait for the surgery. Any idea how long for approval or any tips On speeding up the process I have been out On STD for 2 months and would like to get back to work. But going every 30 min won't cut it. They won't let me back til I can get things under control.

    Thanks

    Hi

My trial was 3 weeks then straight to permenant one and I had approval from my insurance company about a week before the permenant one was suppose to be put in......my trial got infected during the trial so it was taken out. Not brave enough to go back yet.

I documented everything I had tried (26 treatments) & why it didn't work, and sent that in. Then I bugged the insurance company regularly (nicely) to address any additional information that they needed.
IC & fibromyalgia since ~'77. Osteoarthritis since ~'88. Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (autoimmune blood disease) since '96. IBS for who knows how long. Interstim implant 2/04, revised 6/06, replaced 11/12 & again in 9/17. Antibodies to thyroid since at least '92 (finally diagnosed & treated 1/06). Asthma & vocal cord dysfunction 12/06. Hypoglycemia '07. Perimenopausal at 37, menopause at 45. Pituitary & adrenal failure. Osteopenia. Grade 3 sacral fracture by S3-S4 at age 12, healed 14mm out of place.

It got approved in two days. Maybe two years of twice weekly visits to uro and other docs got the point across that it needs done! Yeah. Surgery is scheduled for the 29 th .
