Thank you for the ideas on where to put the pads. I have tried putting them on the back too, and that seems to help tons. I have trouble with the area of my ovaries, I have tried to put them lower but run into hair, so I think I will have to shave. Has anyone tried them that low?

Hi Christina,
I use the tens sometimes for pain relief. An ic nurse practitioner showed me where to put the pads. Put one plus pad on your left lower abdomen. Put the minus pad on your right lower back. (So they cross over your stomach) Do the same on the other side with the other set of pads. I think it helps a lot with pain severe or not. Hope this helps!
Take care, Julie

Hi:

I have a tens unit, and have had a fair amount of suscess with it. I do think it may cause a little bit of retention. I place my on low pelvis, kind of in a v shape using one lead wire with two electrodes. Sometimes, I will use all four, but because it is so cumbersome, usually just two. I find the modulation mode is most helpful, and constant, not timed for 30/ 60 minutes. I am planning on submitting an article on tens for this site. It is interesting what it does. It really depends on how aggraving your pain is. I know when the pain is really high, it doesn't work well, you need to put it on before the pain level gets intolerable. Kinda of like taking pain pills...learned that just recently on my own.

Where to put the electrodes?

I have a tens unit that was prescribed for my TMJ, and I have also used it on my back, my doc said it was ok. I would like to try using it for my IC, could someone please tell me where to put the electrodes for this? I will see my urologist in two and a half weeks, but I would like to get some relief before then.
