  • Abdominal inflammation/swelling

    Hi friends,
I was diagnosed with IC a few years ago. In the last year, my abdomen looks visibility inflamed and swollen. This usually happens after I drink an alcoholic beverage that doesn't agree with my bladder. Does this happen to other people? I'm wondering what exactly is happening to my bladder at this time...

The swollen belly with IC seems to be pretty common. Mine would look like a basketball by evening and by morning it was down to normal. Strange I know but some explanations were that it was due to inflammation and maybe alcohol is causing an inflammation in your bladder-? What does your dr. think? Has he/she checked you for other things too. Or a GI dr. to check for digestive problems etc?

This is so common that we've dubbed it the "IC Belly." I suspect it's due to the inflammation, which can cause swelling.
