elavil and constipation

Just wondering, is constipation a big problem with elavil?...I have only taken this for one day and think it has helped my pain and urgency but I really worry about the constipation it may cause and would hate to think that I end up not taking it because of this...this seems to be my common side effect with any meds...any comments would be appreciated!

I easily get C, I have IBS-C and I use miralx with no problems.

Someone on the site suggested it too me and I discussed it with my Dr. and he said I could take it daily.

It has been a wonder med for me, most bulk forming fibers made me worse.

I know it is adding another med to the protocol but if you get relief from the edvil maybe it is worth it to do this.

Please discuss this with your Dr. fist as I don't know all the meds you take or you specific conditions so i would not want you to try something that you should not be using in your case, I would feel very bad if you had problems with it.

Thanks for the info, MG...in Canada we have Lax-a-day, which is pretty much the same and I do have some...might have to dip into it again!

Yes it was a script in Canada till last year sometime, known as PEG, often used for kids because of no taste and being able to hide it in food, and being in a powder form dosage can be adjusted as needed.

DKIM: I've been taking generic elavil since March 2009 & have not experienced constipation. It obviously helped you after just taking it one time. I bet your dr. can advise you if it does come to be a problem. Drink lots of water, eat the fruit & vegies you can tolerate so you up your fiber. I hope the elavil helps you as much as it has helped me.
