  • Lexapro

    Hi,
I've was diagonosed with IC about 10 years ago and since then I've been in and out of remission. Luckily, I like to be pregnant (I have 7 children) and when I'm pregnant I go into remission. I had my last baby two years ago and have been pain free from IC for awhile now.
I've been on and off again Zoloft and always liked it but it just didn't seem to be doing the trick anymore and I was having alot of problems in my life in general and started gaining weight so I decided to see about switching.
First I had an awful experiance with Prestiq which I don't want to even get into so my new doctor switched me to Lexapro. I have to admit I was not good with taking it all the time and now have finally gotten into a schedule. I've been taking it about a total of 1 1/2, 2 months and now every day for two weeks.
I am having the worst flare-up ever. Its killing me. I don't know if its the Lexapro or I've had a couple things that used to cause flare-ups and maybe I'm just being affected by them again. I also am having a big problem with feeling like I have urinate but can't. I guess thats called retention but I don't know.
I'm thinking of asking the doctor to go back on Zoloft. I thought maybe if I changed my meds I could start losing weight but I haven't. I was always pretty good on Zoloft, even though my husband said I wasn't. I don't know. Does anyone else have flare-ups on Lexapro?
    Thanks,
    Sharon

Antidepressants can retention, but I am on Pristiq and it does not seem to affect that.. And it also helps with my depression.. And we all know IC can cause you to feel Depressed.. Hang in there and ask your Dr and go with his/her advice..

      Lexapro

      Hello,

I can remember my very first dose of the ol' Lexapro. I had the worst pain down there, I called my dr and even asked if it did anything to the bladder and his response was no. But I did continue to take it. After a while I didn't notice anything else but I do remember the first day I took it. Could be a fishy thing or just the med. Not sure but good luck and I hope you get to take it. It worked for me.
