  • Troviaz *UPDATE*

I do not know how to "UPDATE" the title of the former "troviaz" thread...so I had to make a new one... sorry...

Well I went 5 hours last night 12am - 5am with out peeing...

I think the Troviaz is helping...but with some possible?> side effects....

My urine stream was never really forceful....but now its weak...I AM GOING..but its weak? > I don't know if this is a bad thing? or if it can lead to retention? or if thats just ok that I am at least, actually going.??? So if anyone knows...please clue me in on this.

Also..I think I may be consitipated...forgive me if this is TMI.....but I have NEVER BEEN constipated so I am not sure if having GAS means I am constipated??? I am having that off and on..... Usually I have a bowel movement 2 times a day.....and well, I haven't gone since yesterday before I took the pill....??? Now...couldnt I just eat some raisins? or have have some raisin bran? That used to make me go a lot...would that work or do I buy a laxative? or stool softener? or what? lol

Also...I do have the dry mouth...but my cousin mentioned chewing gum for that so I am going to try that today. I made the mistake last night of chewing "EXTRA" brand gum and it had Aspartame in it..I know that gave me gas and really bothered my stomach...b/c this morning its mostly all gone.

Thanking you all in advance for any answers

Cindi......wanted to tell you...the nurse at the dr. office told me that sometimes..retention works in diff. ways some ppl not most wake up feel like they have to pee and just cant pee...but most ppl that experience retention...its that they are peeing..but not emptying enough...they tell this when you go back for your check up and they tell you to pee and then do a scan to see if you emptied your bladder all the way or if you leave a little (which I think she said is ok) or if you leave a larger amount which is bad.

They all seem to cause dry mouth and constipation to some degree. My new uro has me trying Gelnique transdermal gel which is supposed to have fewer side effects because it doesn't go through the liver and is absorbed through the skin- and I still have some mild constipation. I guess anything that slows down the bladder contractions also slows down the intestinal motility and slows down what comes out- I use a stool softner instead of a laxative and it works pretty good without any side effects. This condition stinks! I keep calling it a "condition" because if I say disease it depresses me.

Earthlady..so your on a gel not pills? where do you put the gel? all over your body? or is it a vaginal insert ??

I think the thing I am most disappointed about is...it can take any amount of time to see side effects....and side effects that may cause you to have to stop the meds... I mean...it would be so much better if you knew these things within a day or two of taking them...its like I sit waiting to "see".....i hate that

OH TMI>>>but I wound up having a bowel movement today and it wasnt even hard...so i hope thats a good sign...but I was still gassy I'm gonna buy some raisin bran...that usually does the trick for me.

        Thats great!

I find I just wait longer in between until I really have to go and then the stream is more normal

Also..I think I may be consitipated...forgive me if this is TMI.....but I have NEVER BEEN constipated so I am not sure if having GAS means I am constipated??? I am having that off and on..... Each person is different. You can try more fiber but that doesn't work for me, I usually have to take flaxseed capsules and magnesium capsules every day to stay regular on these types of meds. The magnesium is like a natural stool softener, regular stool softeners work too

The dry mouth will improve with time as your body adjusts. Also sometimes I take them every 36 instead of every 24 if I feel too dried out

Thats interesting, must be why they always make me pee in that special commode, to measure the pressure and then they use a little ultrasound wand to see how much is left over which is usually about 40cc which he says is within the normal range

The gel is used on the pelvic area, upper arms, or thighs. It worked incredibly fast for me. You rub it in until it dries, which is about 2 seconds and you're good to go. It has been very effective for me but I do not have retention issues, so I don't know how it would effect someone who already has retention. I always ask if a med can be used by transdermal delivery because I get nauseated from just about everything out there! A compounding pharmacy can do this for a lot of meds but the Gelnique is already on the market for transdermal use and sale.

Thats very interesting! I tried the oxytrol patch for awhile but I broke out not quite in a rash but in small red bumps at each hair follicle on my legs and a little on my arms , it only now is going away and its been 2 months. I had keratitis pelaris as a kid (keratin bumps) on my legs and for whatever reason that med brought it back, must be the drying effects.
Hmmm I wonder if the gelnique would do that to me or if I could use it.

Maybe you could ask your dr. for some samples. Mine gave me a weeks worth to try and I can pretty much tell in a week how it will effect me.

                  thanks

I dont have retention issues...Im just the opposite..always going...

The one thing I have noticed here on day 2...is that I am still having to urinate many times..but...I am not having the spazams....thats the one thing I have noticed a decrease in. ....and the night last night how i went 5 hours...however today...I have already drank about 25 oz of water but I have peed about 5 times since 5am...so I dont know how good that is..I guess I will have to see if that improves.

So the gel is for urges/frequency and spazams?

my symptoms were burning, irritation, and frequency when the irritation was goin on - also bad at night when I woke up I felt the burning pretty bad. Not sure what diag my current uro has in mind for me but the Gelnique has decreased the freq AND the burning feeling which I am kind of surprised over because this must mean there are spasms somewhere in the bladder. ????
I also had pelvic floor spasms but the pt therapy took care of that.--So far anyway. Always hate to say something is gone cause with this crazy stuff who knows?

The only spasms I have ever had are in my bladder. Quite uncomfortable.
