  • Need alternative for UTA - please help!!

I have always used UTA for my symptoms, but when I went to pick it up today, it had more than doubled in price. My insurance doesn't pay anything on it and never had. Now it's over $130. I've read from the forum about Prosed, Urelle, Uribel, etc. I have no clue about any of these. The pharmacist recommended Cystex Plus. He said it doesn't contain the antispasmodic, but has the analgesic and antibacterial ingredients. I don't have spasms, so I got it, but after looking it up on this web site, it sounds like nobody likes it. Does anybody use it for pain and burning only? Please help!!
    treatment:
-I follow the IC diet to the letter
    -acupuncture and chinese herbs
    -Prelief
    -UTA
    -instillations as needed
-beginning yoga and specialized yoga for breathing and relaxation
    -Wellbutrin
    -Klonopin

    main symptoms: pain and burning

Cystex is NOT a substitute for UTA (Urelle? is that what you are referring to?).

To get some immediate OTC relief before seeing your doc again, you can try taking "AZO" urinary tract pain relief. AZO is "Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride" which is an anesthetic pain killer and is intended to help with pain/burning (it has helped me somewhat when desperate in the past). But even if you dont have spasms, there is a reason your doc prescribed you an antispasmodic. You have to call up your doc and let them know what is going on, perhaps they can recommend you a cheaper alternative treatment plan.

I find that applying heat with a heating pad or a hot bath is also very soothing.
