  • HELP How long does instillation last

Just had an instillation yesterday in Md's office URO GYN
Is it ever a one time situation or doe I need a repeat?
RN said some people come in every 2 weeks

I have to have surgery to have uretheral prolapse mesh removed and am worried about this IC pain which I have had on and off since May 28th plus 3 UTIS

What do I expect here? I was hoping it was a one shot instillation
    IC: elavil - dizziness sleeplessness
    elmiron caused headaches
    pyridium as needed
    IC 2011
    seing uro gyn
urethal prolapse (2005) mesh removed 2011
PT for back and for pelvic floor
    instillations

A lot depends on what was used in the instillation, the severity of your IC, and your response to the instillation. I've known some IC patients who don't need instillations at all, some who only need instillations until their oral medicines kick in, some who only need them for flares, some who get instillations or a series of instillations occasionally, some who do them at home weekly or more often. It can vary by a lot as you can see.

Twice daily instillations done at home have given me back a good quality of life, but my mom who also has IC has never needed one. So it really varies by the individual!

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you find relief soon!
    Best,
    Kadi

      Thank you

I have a problem here because half the pain is from themesh issue
The RN told me to call - I guess I call if the pain comes back in bladder
      It is only 2 days
      Thank you so much
