  • Atarax

I just got back from my uro. He gave me a prescription for Atarax & also Ditropan XL. I had been on the Ditropan for several years prior to being diagnosed but it didn't help. I'd appreciate hearing about anyone's experience w/ Atarax. He said it caused drowsiness. Does it help you to sleep through the night? Did it help with frequency (my main issue)? I'm also on Elmiron (6 months now)& I always thought the dosage was kind of low (100 mg once a day) b/c everything I'd read said it should be 100 mg 3x/day. He said he either wrote the prescription wrong or the pharmacy messed it up & the dosage was wrong. Great! Now he has me on 400 mg. per day. So the last 6 months have been for nothing. I haven't seen any improvement yet. I'm hoping that with the combo of these 3 drugs it will help.

Also, anyone have any experience w/ Percocet? He said it causes drowsiness & nausea. I'm considering taking it with me - just in case - when I travel to Brazil, as the vicodin doesn't always help. But I don't want to be feeling sick that far away from home either.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks!

I am very med sensitive and cannot take percocet. It made me nauseated and drowsy, as well as it caused me jerking in my sleep. I am just very very sensitive to narcotic meds.

I take Atarax and Percocet. I take 2 pills at 25mg each. At night. It used to make me drowsy the first 2 months but, now I have adjusted and am having trouble sleeping now. I take Perc. for pain every day. I don't usually get groggy unless I have to take it all day long and then at night I am tired. But, it is worth it because it helps with my pain. Hope it helps you.

              hi ICchill,

What dosage of Elavil do you take and how do you ease off of it? Is Elavil used as a pain blocker?
              Thanks, Tilly

When I first started elavil, almost a year ago, I was so groggy even in the morning that I had to cut the 25 mg. pills in half. Slowly we have increased this to 75mg at bedtime every night. I tried going down to 50 mg. and the pain got worse. It was a pain management doctor that increased it to 75. I am able to awaken refreshed now and it really seems to be helping. I also take Lyrica, Elmiron and Quercetin.
