  • Bleeding w/ Elmiron

Hi. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. I was diagnosed a little over a year ago. I was on Elmiron for 6 months and then my insurance stopped paying for it. I was off of it for a few months before i discovered assistance plans. I am now back on it. When i was first on it and before i was on it i always had visible blood in my urine, once i started taking Elmiron it got worse, i assumed because its a blood thinner. Once i stopped taking it the blood in the urine was gone, or atleast it wasn't visible. Now that i am back on it i bleed again. Its always a lot 30 min after I take it. This is really annoying. Has anyone else had this problem. I see 2 doctors and one says its common and the other says its not and that the bleeding probably isn't from my bladder. If anyone can help i would appreciate it. Thanks!

Some people have reported bleeding from the rectum with Elmiron, a very few, but some. It is impossible to say if your bleeding from the Elmiron, I am surprised your Doc isnt trying to investigate to see where in UT your blood is coming from?
I always have microscopic blood in my urine, but it actually got better when I started Elmiron, so we are all different.

Thanks. My dr. wants to send me to a kidney specialist, but i changed jobs so i have to wait until my insurance kicks in which will be in may. i just think its strange that it stopped when i stopped taking the medicine and then started again when i started taking it again.
