Yucky Side Effects from Elmiron

I just started Elmiron last night and I feel so sick. I also started Elavil at the same time. I am dizzy and extremely nauseated. I know it says that you aren't supposed to take it with food but has anyone taken it with food anyway? I know I should probably just call my doctor to find out. Also, do the side effects go away once your body gets used to the Elmiron? Just wondering. I don't want to give it up because I've heard that it works well for IC. Thanks. Kim

Have you tried emptying the Elmiron into a glass of water ad taking it that way? Somethimes the capsule it comes in upsets peoples stomachs. When I started Elavil I got very dizzy and woozy, that went away after a week or so.

You could either call you doctor or pharmacist if you are concerned.

Sometimes people can not take the capsule the Elmiron comes in, so like merryberrymoose stated you can empy the contents into water to help with that. Also it can be coming from the Elavil. Some people experience dizziness and nausea while first starting out taking it.

Sometimes I forget that I took my elmiron in the morning and eat with it. I dont get nausious from it.... The elavil makes me dizzy at night especially when I close my eyes. The room spins!!!! I hate it but it helps me sleep. I hope you find the root of the problem!! (hugs)

Muffie, the Elmiron did make me dizzy at first, but that side effect went away within a few weeks.
