  • elmiron...one month update

Well, I think it might be helping a bit. I just had a full week where I felt good...very low level symptoms. Today they crept back up again, but I know it takes time to work and I think I ate something that didn't agree with my bladder.

My uro requested a liver panel just to make sure the elmiron wasn't having any adverse effects and I passed with flying colors. Thank goodness!

    Robin,
I'm so gald to hear that the Elmiron is working for you. I have been on it since the beginning of Nov and I haven't noticed a bit of difference. I just started Elavil last week and that helped me more in one week than Elmiron did in 5 months! It's good to hear that the Elmiron does help people though. My uro wants me to stay on the Elmiron a little longer but I think I'm going to ask him if I can go off of it when I have my next appt in like three months and see if I get any worse. Hope you continue to get better

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

      Christine,
I'm soooo glad to hear the elavil is helping you! I know you were really struggling to find something that would work with your pain and frequency. By the way, I know your diagnosis was a relief (it was for me too at the time), but I'm sorry that you had to join the club. We're a great group of people...but the entrance requirements aren't much fun!

Here's to hoping we both continue to feel better and better!
