I have been on Elmiron for just under 2 weeks now.... I noticed that my frequency is already down, and most of the day (last 2 days anyways) I have felt pretty well normal... Is it possible that Elmiron can work this fast? Has anyone else experienced this?

I have not been officially diagnosed yet, " just on symptoms" I am starting to question this? I have been tested for EVRYTHING, all normal, I just have frequent urination and some pressure occasionally. Could it be possible that my bladder is just irritated and needs to calm down rather than having IC?
    28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

There have been a few people here who have said that the Elmiron started working for them in just a few weeks, so it sounds very possible. Sounds like your dr. is going by the new AUA guidelines for diagnosing and treatment. You could always stop the elmiron and see if the irritation goes away on it's own. If not, then at least now you know what will help you. You're lucky your dr. picked up on this early.

I would have to say that whatever you're improvement its not directly from the couple of weeks of Elmiron. Elmiron takes months to start building up in the bladder and over a year to notice full effects. I would wager that you're just naturally having some good days.

Frequent urination and occasional pressure could be from numerous issues (over active bladder, a uti, other diseases, nerve problems, etc). Its very important that the most sinister of issues be ruled out before speculating what *might* be causing your sx.

      Wishing you well.

Jinny I am glad you are feeling better. It might be the Elmiron but it is rare that it works so fast. Hard to say. We are all so different. I sure hope you continue to feel better. I would stay on it until you next see your Doctor. Hug, Ziggy

I have heard of elmiron starting to work quickly, but in most instances it does take longer. I'm just happy for you that you're feeling better.

          Warm hugs,
          Donna

Yeah not sure, it tends to go one good day one so so day and then one crappy day... Yesterday during the day was good! Yeah I peed alot but after I would pee I would feel reallllyyyy good for about an hour until I had to again. Mind you I was drinking water like a fish so I was obviously peeing. I am so scared to actually get a diagnosis. I dont want my bladder to be torn up when they stretch it!.... but it would be nice to have an answer, even though I know my body....
I feel lke this is all my fault, I took so many antibiotics, and then I got the yeast infection that started this... I am SO angry sometimes! I cried myself to sleep last night because it was all I could do to not scream in anger.
I wanted to ask you guys... my "pain" is more like pressure I suppose, and sometimes that can actually be painful! I was having this before though (without the frequent urination) before al this IC stuff, so I am wondering if the yeast infection just set off and alreay predisposing condition... ugh. I also have this minor ache under neath my right rib, dont know if it is IC related, and it comes and goes.
Anyways, Im trying to folow the diet close, sometimes I mess up, But I have decided to go back on the anti candida diet and eat little sugar again (this helped when it all started)... I feel yeasty, Hopfully this will continue to make me feel better...
