  • painful abdominal cramps after first elmiron

    hi
has anyone had really bad stomach cramps from elmiron?
i tried it years ago and had the same problem and stopped taking it.
Now I feel like I need to try it again and I took my first one last night at 8pm , out of the capsule, in water and wham-o.... 3 hours later the painful cramps started. Its been all night and still now, 11 hours later.
Just curious if anyone else has this and if I am just not cut out for elmiron.
I am scared to death to take another one.
    thanks

You might talk with your doctor about taking it with a small amount of food.

thanks Donna. I wondered about that and if I would make the medicine not work. I go to Whitmore's office and have an appt. on thursday. I think I will ask to try the elmiron instillation.

No I don't get cramps from Elmiron but if I don't drink a full glass of water with it I get heartburn. Once I learned to drink the water it has been okay.

we are going to try elmiron instillations instead. The stomach pain was too much.
