  • To Elmiron or not to Elmiron...?

I just wanted to give everyone an update here with me: As of late, I've been feeling better! Not totally normal...but better! I don't know if it's the Elmiron, my healthier diet, more sun, exercise, sex, or just God finally showing himself and his plan for me, but whatever it is, it seems that SOMETHING is working. I've been on Elmiron for about two months.

I plan to discontinue Elmiron, come August, because we want to try for our first baby, so I guess I'll be able to better judge things then, but for now, I'll take it!

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. And, don't get me wrong, I'm not in remission, but I do think that I'm on to something.

I have a hydro scheduled for August 9th, so I guess I'll be able to see what's going on in there, hopefully, and I have an appointment with a holistic doctor and gastro doctor next week--my journey continues!

    Wishing you all pain-free days...
    Maria

IM SO GLAD YOUR FEELING GOOD!!!

    Jenn
    28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

Good news about you feeling better. I am in huge flare right now and it is so good to read that people can and do feel better

I am starting with raw food diet, juices and green smoothies and salads. Nothing else (rx meds and holistic things like cystoprotek, IC aloe vera) helps with my frequency, urgency and burning. I was also tested and I am gluten sensitive, lactose intolerant, few other food allergies, so all in all it made perfect sense to try go "raw". Fingers crossed

          Right now I am on:
          Vesicare 5 mg
          Other stuff:
Herbal mix for bladder and kidneys
          Herbal mix for adrenals
          Fish Oil
          Bladder Control
          Colostrum
          Probiotics

Engtch29- I'm doing well and feeling well. Thanks for asking. Minor irritation now and then but now I know what most probably triggered it (usually diet related) and can stop anything from getting out of control. No pain though, and only taking my supplements now and then when needed. Haven't needed any regular meds for a while now.
