  • Pregnant and Taking Elmiron

Hi All! I just found out I'm 6 weeks pregnant and believe me this was not planned. My docotor said it was safe to take Elmiron to me and the baby which gave me relief. I'm starting to feel a dull burning pain the past couple of days.

My question is has anyone felt flare ups during pregnancy? The foods they suggest to eat to keep the nausea down, citrus, gave you problems as well or was it kept at bay. Also as the pregnancy progressed did your flares come on strong as well?

    thank you in advance

Congratulation! (even though it was unplanned) I think being a mom is a wonderful thing. Is this your first child? I didn't know citrus could help nausea. Maybe that's why I was so sick, I never had citrus. haha I hear ginger can help with nausea and I think it's IC safe. I never really got relief from the all-day sickness until 4 months along though. Then, it was gone.
I had many flares (or one constant flare) during pregnancy. Depends how you want to look at it. I had to take pain killers. So, I got off Effexor, which I was taking at the time. Although my Dr. said I could stay on it, I just wanted to be as drug free as possible. I didn't ever get relief from Elmiron. However, if that's what helps you - I totally understand. It's so tough. I am not one to advocate taking any medication during pregnancy unless 100% necessary. In my case, it was though, and it felt like no one understood that.
My flares didn't change as the pregnancy progressed. I did have to get up more often at night to pee at the end. I was off work 1 month before my son was born. So, at least I could get rest during the rest if I needed.
My son is such a little joy! I miss him being small sometimes too. They are so sweet and innocent. Mine's 3. I should update the pic.

Some doctors say it's okay to take elmiron during pregnancy; others advise against it.

        Ok by Doctors

I ended up calling my urologist and he said the Elmiron is perfectly fine to take while pregnant. He warned I will probably feel a more intensity than normal but so far no flare ups.

I'm in my 9th week and this is my 2nd pregnancy. My 4 yr old boy has been showing his love for babies the past year but I haven't told him yet. For me it's best to wait till after the 1st trimester. Of course i hope it's a girl but at the same time i just wanna hear healthy baby news tomorrow at my first ultrasound.

My husband is finally coming around slowly. He's worried about security and how we weren't ready for this. My argument is this couldn't of happen at a better time. He's in the Army and just re-enlisted last year for 3 more years. But then again I have to remember Men usually think 10 years from now. I just stop stressing over him and just take care of myself. As we all know stressors cause major flares up and it doesn't help with the ALL DAY pregnancy nausea either.

First of all, congratulations! And I think it's good that you aren't telling your 4 year old yet --- six or seven months can seem like an eternity for a child. It's been a LOOOONG time, but I didn't share pregnancy information with my older children until they could actually feel the new one kicking.

I hope you will feel good all through this pregnancy.
