  • Ten months

Just thought I'd share with everyone... ten months was the magical time period for me for being on Elmiron. Before a couple of weeks ago, I would tell anyone who asked that I stayed on it only because it was so cheap for me- I really couldn't tell if it was doing anything or not, and it certainly wasn't hurting.

Nothing else has changed, so I know it's the Elmiron. I haven't felt my bladder in about three weeks. I had a LEEP, and a biopsy and colposcopy, and didn't feel my bladder. I don't flare a lot, but I usually can "feel" my bladder. I know you guys know what I mean.

So... don't give up if you reach that 6 month mark everyone talks about and feel the Elmiron isn't working!

Yes, that is great! What is a LEEP? I stayed on Elmiron for almost a year (back in 2006) and it didn't work for me so I gave up. My Dr. has mentioned me going back on it a couple times. I have to pay full price for name brand drugs now though. I wonder if a generic is going to come out.

A LEEP is unrelated to IC. It is to remove precancerous cells on the cervix. My doctor warned me that it would probably send me into a big flare though.

Yikes, if I paid full price for Elmiron, there is no way I would have stayed on it. I pay $15 a month!
