  • Dose of Cystoprotek

Since right before Christmas I've been taking 6 pills a day. How long can I continue on this dose? I'm doing really well on it and I'm afraid of what might happen if I decrease my does or stop taking it. Thanks!

What is cystoprotek? Do you need a prescription to get it?

From what I understand it's the natural equivalent to elmiron (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). You don't need a prescription. The ICN shop sells it or you can buy from the algonot webpage.

You can take the 6 forever if you want. I took 6 for a long long time and then decided to try just 4. Two in the morning and 2 at supper. It went ok. A few times I had to take an extra 2. You can buy it from here or go through the company.

oops, sorry didn't remember you had already posted about the company. I'm not feeling well and my brain has gone.

Does this cystoprotek really help IC? I just ordered some now.
I am willing to try just about anything at this point.

For me it helped enough so I could drink water again without being in so much pain I was standing doubled over. I only bought 1 bottle in the beginning to make sure and could tell with just a few days after taking it.

So when you went down to 4 did you just take 2 extra when you were having pain/frequency? How did you know when to take extra? Thanks!

Yes, I went down to taking just 4 and when I start feeling worse I take the extra 2 until I get to feeling better. I just know when to take the extra 2.

How many pills are in the bottle of Cystoprotek?

I'm just ready to order my first bottle. ICN sells a 90-day supply, but the other bottle from another supplier has only 120 capsules (which is only a 20-day supply at 6 per day).

                  Thanks for your help.

I was taking cystoprotek, 1 pill 3 times a day since January and I think It helped with my bladder, the entire month of Febrary & March I didn't have an IC flare or bladder. Main main issues durin that time were yeast infection and vulvodynia pain, but my bladdr was fine.
2 weekd ago I had a gynocolgical exam and after taht my bladder started flaring bad again, (very bad). Friday I saw my urologist and will have to have CT scan of kidneys b/c when I flare my back hurts and we never ruled out stones. (urine culture test was fine).

In regards to Cytorproteck I wasn't able to take it last week b/c when I take strong pain meds for IC my stomach can't tolerate anything else and Cystorprotek can be heavy on the stomach. Also I was trying to discotinue Nexiun but I couldn't b/c the heartburn came back so I'm trying to stop cystoprotek and take Cysta Q instead which is easier on the stomach. I got samples of that from my urologist. I would like to still take cystorpoteck at least once a day (1 pill) but don't know if it is worht it. Cysta Q doesn't contain condroitin ad glucosamin which are supposed to be good.
