  • Has anyone tried Kava?

I went to a naturopath on Thursday and she suggested I start taking kava pills to help with my symptoms. I've only been taking them for two days but I think it's helping a little.

    Anyone else ever tried kava?

    Probiotics & elmiron in water

Hi: I've had IC for 10 years and thank God for Elmiron & Amitryptiline. They have kept my bladder under control. However, I am now dealing with severe IBS, GERD & Acid Reflux but any medication or antacids that I take cause my IC to flare. I went to my Urologist today and she suggested that I go on Probiotics to get my intestinal problems under control. I have tried some in the past and they triggered my IC.
She also suggested that I try taking my Elmiron outside of the capsule in a small glass of water. She said that might be easier on my esophogus and intestine. She also suggested that I get on the IC website and see if anyone can help me. Can anyone with IC recommend a probiotic that doesn't cause IC problems? Also, has anyone tried Elmiron outside of the capsule? I would really appreciate any feedback that you can offer.

    Thank you very much!

Is Kava like a natural kind of muscle relaxant? Because I think I tried it for my migraines but didn't have any luck. I haven't tried it for IC but if you think it's helping then that's great!!

OK...yes I've tried Elmiron outside the capsule and had no change. But it works for some.

Glad you are having SOME success with your symptoms. Ummm....Kava, you may want to do a little research on that. Google it, whatever. Kava is sometimes not real safe with certain meds and conditions. Please always research herbals before using. They can do more harm than good. Don't always listen to the folks at the health food store, they prob never heard of IC and are not pharnacists. Please be careful. Jill, wife of Bob

I have been taking Align and it didn't seem to bother me. However, I am now in a flare, so not sure.

Hi, I have been taking primadophilus reuteri for a few years now, it has rhamnosus, acidophilis, and reuteri which is supposed to be especially good for women as it has been shown to migrate to the vagina and populate the good flora. It has to be refrigerated.

I don't know anything about Kava but I agree to research it thoroughly first.

I take Kava Kava capsules on occasion for anxiety and I have read online others take it as more of a muscle relaxer. It does not have the effect of a prescription anxiety medication but I was trying to stay off of those anyway. I would suggest it if you're feeling bad and just trying to relax.
