Anyone know the number of tums that would be ok for the acid in our food we eat..Also preliefs? I have read that prelief has magesium and phosphorus and too much can cause an imbalance with other problems..I have found that I have been taking alot of tums and prelief to avoid flares due to the acid after I eat..Any one having the same problem?

I take quite a few a day myself, probably up to about 10 easy.
Each prelief tablet is only 65mg of calcium so you can take alot of those, help your IC and meet your calcium requirement. I wouldn't take too many tums as they have alot more calcium per tablet plus it could cause constipation. Prelief has a miniscule amount of magnesium, like 6mg or something, I take 1,500mg of magnesium a day to offset constipation (which my doctor ok'd) so you can see the difference.
I read somewhere that the daily max for phosphorous is like 4,000mg a day, each prelief has 50mg.Last edited by cmclien; 02-27-2011, 01:19 PM.Cindi
