  • Methionine or SamE

hey all...I just started taking this supplement. I had been doing some research on the whole histamine issue and it really makes sense for me. I had read that this amino acid reduces histamine in the body. I am also now taking Magnesium and Glucosomine with MSM. Can anyone weigh in on this? Thanks

I am not taking any of those so I can't help you but I know that there are other members that are. I think cmclien (Cindi) is knowledgable about some of these.

Be sure to talk to you Dr or a pharmacist about adding any new supplements to your treatment plan.

I know it's used for osteoarthritis, and also for depression. I had tried it once, but as I recall I got a little too much of an 'up' mood. Had not thought of it for bladder inflammation, but would be interesting to see if anyone else has used it for this.

Isn't sam-E a form of sulphate? I have been trying to find more info on that. I suspect in my case a sensitivity to salicylates and sulphate is supposed to help with that so i have been taking epsom salt baths to absorb it through the skin.
Whenever i read about people with salicylate sensitivity they often have other food chemical sensitivities like histamines and also amines as well. I wish i had more good info on this but i am just starting to follow this trail.

I don't know if it is a form of sulphate. I had tried it for the osteoarthritis but it is quite pricey to be using on a daily basis, so I discontinued it. I always take baths with epsom salts, but my reason is for relaxing the pelvic floor muscles.

So, I've been taking the SAMe for a while and I think it is helping..I have also been following (for the most part) the histamine diet. I have been taking glucosomine with MSM on and off..not sure if that does anything. I also stopped taking prilosec in the morning and am taking later in the day with food.....I was getting this vicious burning mid-morning...trying to see if that helps. I am a lot better. I also have been taking extra Magnesium as I'd read stuff on that and I'm always constipated anyway.
