  • Problem after problem

Hi I think I am just getting frustrated and it seems to be one thing after another.

I have been on ab's for a few weeks now for a tooth ache, so my stomach has been all over the place, I take diflucan as to not get yeast infection, but I still sometimes get thrush in my mouth when on ab's for an extended period of time.

Funny enough my bladder has been better than it has been in a long time, I figure I may have had a low grade UTI for quite awhile, which this it has helped, not the usual ab's that my Dr. gives me for UTI treatment.

Stupidly not even thinking I ate some yogurt, I had been having problems with swallowing the pills and them getting stuck. This caused a trip to the ER for me after 24 hours of a pill causing crippling chest pain, ( I was thinking it would just pass). Any way it was suggested I take the pills in a spoonful or 2 of yogurt and the glass of water you are to drink with it. Idea being if it got stuck, it would not burn my esophagus so easily, sound reasonable to me.

Well did I ever pay, it worked great for getting the pills down (I do recommend this to people who have problems getting pills down, but in the future I will use cottage cheese) and I figured I could benefit from the probiotics too, and I only had about 2 teaspoons of the yogurt.

In the winter I had been able to get away with eating a bit of nonfat Greek yogurt with out problem. So I had added it to my maybe list of foods, I went to buy some of Greek yogurt but where I live you can't get it, so I picked a yogurt with no preservatives, fruit, or flavorings s plain as I could get, and 6% fat as I am to eat more fat.

In a couple of hours later my bladder hurt so bad it spread to my whole abdomen and I could hardly move from the pain. It took me a bit to figure out I was flaring from the yogurt, much better today but not 100%. No for sure and for ever yogurt is Xed off my food list.

At least tomorrow I get a root canal on the tooth which has been bothering me and hopfully after that I won't haveto take any more ab's for a while.

Another trick for swallowing pills. I take two giant pills daily for diabetes and it's how I manage to get them down. First take a swallow of water --- then put the pill towards the back of the tongue --- fill your mouth with water and tip your chin down before swallowing. I was amazed the first time I tried it that way, but it works for me.

        problem after problem

        Oh dear, MG.
It DOES seem that problems come in bunches, especially with our bodies.
I hope you're feeling much better.
        Have a good root canal!

Thank you for all the responses, I am kind of dreading the root canal, but it is today and hopefully I will be able to chew food again without too much problems or pain, actually none I hope.

Last time I had a root canal many years ago they trouble getting it frozen, I am allergic to some of the freezing, so they have to use short eating and give more often, this is the part I am most worried about. But looking forward to the relief.

I will post later and let you know how it goes. I really hope that being nervous and having to sit still for so long doesn't send me into a flare, I have put dinner in a croak pot just in case, so I won't have to make dinner after wards.

          Thank MG

Donna thank you for the sugestion of swallowing the pills, I will try it.

For the most part I can swallow any pills big and small except for one's in geletin capsules, I seem to have more problems with them.

They get stuck easier. Most only bother me for a few minutes but it was the medication that was in this capsule that caused the problem, I now have got them to precribe it at half of the doseage and take 2 smaller pills rather than one larger one.

            Have a good day MG
