  • Retail grocery store dietary supplements; had problem

My mother takes Ensure to stabilize her blood sugar and provide vitamins, minerals, etc. They are convenient. But while in a flare not too long ago, I drank some of it daily since I was afraid to eat or drink anything and I have a problem with anemia. (I have to go to a specialist every 2 months to check my hemoglobin) The Ensure didn't seem to bother me, but I purchased another brand called Fortify. It left me howling in pain!. This is the second time that Fortify has done that. I just didn't have the sense to understand how even the least expected culprits in a person's diet could do this.

Any way, just thought I would post, maybe others can relate. Generally, my IC has been in remission most of the time for 2 years. If I become anemic, or other triggers are in place, it will return until I totally calm my bladder with total adherence with the IC diet. Oh, I forgot to add: I take 2 SlowFE which is purchased OTC tabs a day to prevent anemia.

I can't emphasize too strongly how important it can be to read content labels. When I had jaw surgery and was on a soft diet, I lived for several days on Boost without a problem.
