  • Vaginal Trigger point injections

I am in need of trigger point injections inside the vagina and have the option of in the office or under in the hospital. For those of you who have done this what has worked for you? The thought of more pain while awake is not something I am looking forward to. I have heard that being under for it is much easier on the patient overall. Thank you for your time and hope you are well and safe.

I haven't had this done, but wonder what would be used if they do it in the office. If the pain can be avoided in the office, you might want to go that direction --- given the current pandemic.

Please let me know how you do.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

Donna-it went absolutely AWESOME! When I had it done in the hospital a few years back my pain level was at a 9+ and I had to use a wheel chair to get out of there. It lasted for 4 days and then I felt the relief. There were at least 7 injection sites then. In the office my pain level was maybe a 2 from the procedure. It lasted about 5-6 minutes. He first tested where my pain levels were inside and where the pain went to. He injected once to numb the area in the vagina. Then the 2nd and only other injection was done to cover all of the pain sites. He worked them one at a time and has a way of moving/massaging the area so the the lidocane and whatever else he had in there (waiting for the report to find out what the 2nd was) that he was able to direct it to a different area just from that site. He injected some of the stuff, let it sit for about 20 seconds until the area was no longer painful to me and then directed it in a different direction until I felt the next pain site, injected some more, waited and repeated until he got all of the pain sites and even found a couple others on the way that he did also. 2 shots, barely any pain. I walked out of there with a huge smile on my face. I havent been that pain free in years. No restrictions as to what I could do afterwards. As the days go on it just keeps getting better down there. I will definetely be doing this again over physical therapy. I flare for 3-4 days from PT massages in there. No flare and I can get them as needed. I don't know how other Drs do it but this is a life changer.
