Yep...I take 5 mgs 3 times per day. It really helps with pain in my bladder.

I tried it and wound up in the ER with a severe allergic reaction. SO...if your fingers start swelling and you can't fit into the jeans you took off that afternoon, get to the ER before you can't breathe.
I do know Valium helps a lot of people. I wish it had helped me.
I wanted to PM you, but I guess it's still down, or else I'm doing something wrong. I would love to know how you did with the valium. I have been on Valium, 2 mg., three times a day, for two weeks. Also, I've been trying to take two baths a day (it's hard, so I often only get in one).
I haven't noticed any improvement yet. If anything, I'm noticing more hesitency and starting/stopping as I pee. Maybe I'm just aware of it now, whereas before it just seemed normal. I've never had a retention problem that I knew of, but my doctor thinks that PFD is part of what's causing my frequency.
If you, or anyone else can share your experiences, I would be forever grateful.
Thanks!
BTW, my last post was as Buana1, but I changed my "name" when I re-registered.
Julie and MAkinIT,
I was just wondering if you ever tried elavil, neurotin, ultracet, or hydroxyzine for pain. i'm on all 4 and nothing has helped. i didn't know about valium, so i'll ask next time i see the dr.

4. Fentanyl 100 mg Change every 48hrs.

I usually take 5mg at night because that is my worst time. It is just something about bedtime that gets me all up tight. When I lay down and try to go to sleep I just get so tense and the bladder will go into spasms. When I start getting up every few minutes and the urgency will not go away. I will get up and take one. If I feel anxious before I bed I will go ahead and take one.
The last time I went to ur, because of the lastest flare up he told me to start taking it 3 times a day. But when I do that I only take .5mg.
Sometimes it works good and other times not. Just typical IC meds you know what works this time doesn't work everytime. but it is worth a try.

It takes a little darkness for us to see the stars, and a whole lifetime to reach them.
Don't give up. I cannot take away your pain, but I can listen.

Klonopins is a nerve pill just about like a Valium it helps with nerves anxiety it also helps to ease off my bladder well it calms it down some. plus i can take it with my pain medicine and it helps my pain medicine stay in my system longer also.

The valium is supposed to relax the muscles in my pelvic floor and so are the baths. The doctor said these work in conjunction with no constipation (not a problem for me) and no straining.
I generally don't have what I would call pain, just a terrible need to pee, and sometimes sudden, intense urges. Since changing my diet and being on elmiron, things have improved considerably, except in the morning. I pee a little bit, then 15 minutes later my bladder feels so full it's about to burst. I then pee some, and again 20 minutes later I feel overfull. This goes on all morning. He thinks my pelvic floor muscles are tight and I'm not emptying my bladder. And for some reason this usually only happens in the morning????
I've even tried to pee in the tub in the morning, thinking maybe that will get my bladder empty, but peeing in the tub is hard for me.
I really don't notice any difference since starting this treatment, if anything I"m noticing more hesitency and starting/stopping. Maybe I'm just more aware of it now. I want so much for this to work and I'm not a very patient person at times.
Perhaps you need to increase valium. I take 4mg. (2 of the 2mg. valium) 3x day. A lot of people take 5mg. 3x day. It will make you sleepy until you build a tolerance.
I'm going through same thing you are now, peeing takes forever, don't feel like all out, keep trying to pee, then nothing. I don't take baths. I called my dr. friday and i'm going to his office thurs. so he can do ultrasound over bladder to see if I'm emptying bladder and i just feel like it's full or just spasms. It's nerve-racking and keeps me homebound, not that I could go out with the pain i'm having.
So good luck to you, keep us posted and I will as well,
J
I've taken valium (5mgs, 3x a day...if I need to I can take 10mgs 2x per day), and hydroxizine. The hydroxizine is far more sedating, for me. Not necessarily someone else, I'm just super sensitive to antihistimes (Went through 4 years of college in a benadry haze living in Eugene, Or...Grass seed capital of the west) I've gone from 50 mgs of it to 25 because of the sedation. Now, I'm back up to 50 for a few days because I'm peeing every hour at night. This slows the nocturia. (I've only gotten up 3 times in the past few nights instead of 6 or 7)
Haven't taken the other pills...May ask about Klonopin...the others put weight on most people (and I'm sure I'd be one) and I'm diabetic..lost 80 pounds last year so my diabetes would be under control and I'm not letting a stupid med raise my wieght.
