This is right up my alley...since I developed severe PFD DURING pregnancy (and I didn't even get that big...I LOST 25 lbs during my he**ish pregnancy

I started feeling pressure and tightness and pain in June/July of 2006. They tried to pawn it off as just the baby putting pressure on me but I knew better. I hadn't really put on any weight and barely had a stomach! I felt the muscles were constantly spasming (and I was right). I went for GENTLE PT since I was pregnant.

5 months postpardum it is AWFUL...the PFD has gotten worse (sorry to say). I'm trying to find a good PFD therapist.

Anything that puts such a strain on your body I'm sure can cause PFD...and pregnancy is a BIG strain!

Here are some sites (I cannot attest to their validity however. You should check all information with your Gyno):

I have heard that pregnancy can cause PFD in some women. My PT told me this when I asked her if any of her other PFD PT patients had IC (FYI- it's just me and one other person).
The stress of the pain and straining the muscles can lead to irregular muscle function. I don't know any more than that, unfortunately. There is some information out there with more details if you seek it out. I'll try to find some and post it here.

I have pfd, but I don't know the answers to your question. I hope some one can answer them for you. Please ask your gyn about your concerns.

There seems to be a link between pregnancy and PFD. Can it cause PFD? What if you have PFD already, will the pregnancy make it worse? Can there be complications if you have PFD and get pregnant? Are there any therapies specifically for pregnant women with PFD?
