Starting PT for the 2nd time (the 1st was 2 yrs ago) and my therapist said I was in a really bad spasm and I need to try dilators. She gave me some places to go to where I could purchase them, but there are so many kinds! My question is, which ones have you tried and have worked? Silicone or plastic? What is the point of the vibrating ones? Do they help more or less? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My PFD is really bad right now. I am going to PT & having the same problems as you are, and she told me to do the dilators. I have the plastic ones. They do help. They stretch the inside and it helps with the burning and the spasms. I don't know anything about the vibrating ones.Minds are like parachutes-they ony function when they are open.

do the dialtors seem to help? my physical therapist just has me doing internal stretches of only the opening with my fingers. ive only been in treatment for about a month so far...it doesnt seem to be helping very much. im going to ask her about the dilators next time.Pelvic Floor Dysfunction May 2011 from bad UTI

The dilators do help me. They come in a package that starts off very small to x-tra large and sizes in between. You don't insert them all the way, just into the opening. The width increases with the size, and that is was helps you. You start off with leaving it in for 5-10 mins, then increase the time as tolerated.Minds are like parachutes-they ony function when they are open.

Definately get the dialators. My PT had me get them through Current Medical Technology. You can google them. I got a set of 4 and got a pelvic massager for trigger pointbwork.I have numerous health problems, including endometriosis, IC, pudendal neuralgia, pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic dyssnergia.

No it doesn't bother my IC. My IC is mild, frequency, urgency and pain with a full bladder are my symptoms. My PT had me bring the pelvic floor messager in and showed me how to use it. If you are looking for a great set of dilators, honestly, Pure Romance (yes the company that does the sex toy parties) has a great set for $75, which is very reasonable. They are a set of 6 silicone dilators that are sooo much more comfortable to use than the plastic ones I have purchased from medical supply companies. The plastic ones really hurt me trying to get them inside and was hard to progress up in size. With the Pure Romance dilator set just make sure you use their Come Clean toy cleaner to keep them sanitized and not eat away at the silicone. I use my dilators every day, and will have to probably for the rest of my life since I have had a vulvar vestibulectomy. With the help of these dilators, I can now have intercourse again for the first time in a year. I also make sure to use plenty of lubricant when using my dilators, Pure Romance's Just Like Me lube is practically the only lube that has never irritated me. Okay I'm done sounding like an infomercial, lol...just want to say very highly recommendedSarah

I actually got mine from my PT, but I have ordered them online in the past. Just had to explain the charge to my husband. Funny.Comment
