    Hi Elvis,

Have you considered Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak MI. Their urology department has a stellar reputation for IC patient care, surgery and research. Dr. Ken Peters is one of the best clinicians and surgeons in the IC world... and is known for being meticulous. So, he would be a very good second opinion for you as you ponder your options.

        Re: urostomy / indiana pouchi

I too have a urostomy. I have asked my surgeon about being converted to the Indiana Pouch but he doesn’t feel comfortable with it. I am already anemic from the urostomy surgery, and converting to an Indiana pouch would put me at risk for short bowel syndrome. I don’t like the fact that my urostomy supplies cost me so much money. I wish that I had gone with the Indiana Pouch right from the start but Dr Rackley with the Cleveland Clinic told me I would only have more phantom pain and that he only recommends the outside bag to all his Interstitial Cystitis patients.
