  • I didn't known where to put this-HELP

Last Monday, either I or my housekeeper, knocked my Valium prescription into the trash can. And it got thrown away. Like gone to the landfill by Tuesday morning before I knew it was gone!! My rx's sit on the nightstand and a trashcan sits between the nightstand and the bed and it wouldn't be hard to do. With all the rx's I have, I've done it before. I thought well, that really sucks because that's what helps my bladder spasms. By yesterday I knew what the phrase "racked with pain" meant. I thought I would be ok without them since I've only taken them for a few months. Well, I think I was wrong and I can't get a hold of my doctor. I'm having so much muscle and joint pain that I can't walk. We've had to get the wheelchair out so I can get to the bathroom. Does anyone know how long this lasts? I'm still hoping (on Christmas Eve, yeah right) to get my doctor on the phone. And I have a 24 hr pharmacy #. But if I can't I don't know what to do!! Any ideas? I'm really needing ideas about right now!!!

Katie - The only thing i could think to do would be go into a urgent care or med express or the ER. When they see how much pain you are in they may be able to write you a small prescription until you can reach your doctor. I hope you reach him before the holidays so you can get out of pain.
I am happy to say that I am off all pain medication and currently take Neurontin and Uribel for my IC. I went to the Cleveland Clinic Chronic Pain Rehabilitation program and it saved my life!! I still get bad flare ups but it turns out I was on so many narcotics it was making my pain worse.

OMG Erica!! Thank you for being awake!! I guess I thought the same thing but DH is thinking since I took a small fall on Weds that's my problem!! I keep telling him if it was the fall, it would hurt where I FELL, not all over. I hate this. It makes me feel like such a drug addict that I'm in tears. I REALLY thought it wouldn't be a big deal. I have new respect for my medicine!! Thank you again for being here!!

No problem...im actually awake in pain so thanks for being here too. I tried to go out with my friends tonight and made it for about an hour and half then had to come home to lay down. They were all drinking and usually I don't mind being the sober one but when i don't feel good its hard. And don't feel like a drug addict...obviously the medicine is working if you're in this much pain without it. Do you have any other form of muscle relaxer?

I'm sorry your hurting. It must be hard to be so young and have this crappy disease!! At least I was able to get my party on when I was your age. I'm truly sorry, sweetie.
I've tried zanafex, nothing. And just took another Lyrica. It doesn't really help anything but it sometimes puts me to sleep. Here's hoping!!
Weren't you thinking about doing the interstim trial or you've done it? What's up with that?

At least I got my fair share of partying in before this all hit me...i was at WVU for 2 years lol. I'm actually doing research on the interstim right now. I'm waiting for my doctor to call to schedule the trial. I'm a little gun shy because when I was in pain management they tried nerve block injections and it was HORRIBLE. Now anything to do with nerves scares me. But it's worth a shot.

I also have Lyrica but haven't been taking it because i use valium suppositories at night which usually calm my bladder enough to sleep but tonight it's just out of control. My pain medication isn't even doing the trick. I wonder if i can take a Lyrica on top of all that. I get so confused on what meds to take and not take together. It scares me! I hope it helps you sleep tonight so at least one of us won't be exhausted on christmas eve!

I understand being scared and I'm glad you're doing lots of research. I don't know a whole lot about it, but I hear it's used mostly for frequency and urgency, not pain.
About the Lrica, I don't know what to tell you. If you're in really bad pain I guess you could try it, depending on what else you've taken. There's a website, can't remember what it's called, that tells you of interactions between meds. You might check that out.
It seems as though it's helping me get sleepy, honey, so I might just turn off the old iPad and go to the bathroom again (3rd time in the last hour) and try to sleep if I can. If not, I'll be back!! Good luck and I hope something helps you tonight!!

Your doc should always have someone on call for him. If you get an answering SERVICE have them forward your message to the doc on call. Never heard of a doc not having someone on call for him/her.

Thank you! At least I slept for a while last night. I just left another message on my doc's answering machine. I just hope he's listening at some point. I am walking better this morning but my arms still don't want to work right! I never knew this med was SO powerful. It is a scary thing thats going on here.
On a lighter note, Merry Christmas Eve, everybody!!

One suggestion I have is to do an internet search for valium withdrawal symptoms so you will have a little clearer picture of the possible symptoms. You could also call your pharmacist. I just did a search and didn't find severe joint pain as a symptom of withdrawal.

Please do keep trying to contact your physician as well. Have you been taking 10 mg every day? I noticed your signature indicates "as needed" --- if you don't take it regularly, what you are experiencing could very well be unrelated.

Please do seek medical help before the end of today.

And let me know what you find out.

                            Warm hugs,

I do take it at least once a day for bladder spasms. It's been so helpful. I never knew I would be in this much pain after taking such a small dose. Either me or my housekeeper accidentally knocked it into the trash can and didn't notice. I just never knew. I'm just in tears.
